Why is this important?

It is important for you and your parent(s) to be on the same page. This is a chance to address any concerns they might have and help them understand your desire to go on mission.

Tips for your "Why Mission?" conversation

Speak with confidence - Trust that if God wants you on mission, he will provide.

Come prepared - The more you can share about your trip, the easier it will be to address concerns your parent(s) may have. Important topics to include are:

  • Cost

  • Dates

  • Travel plans

  • Vaccine information

  • Gebirah Missions safety measures

  • The organization the trip works with on the ground

  • A general idea of what the trip will do

Express your desires - Communicate what excites you about going on mission and what you hope to experience.

Share scripture - A mission trip is an opportunity to live out Jesus' call to serve. In
Matthew 25:40 he says, "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

Visit our website - Direct your parent(s) to the Gebirah's Missions website for more

Tips for your "Why Fundraise?" conversation

Explain the benefits - Fundraising removes the burden of paying for the trip out of
pocket form you and your parent(s).

Talk about the ways to go on mission - Some people desire to serve, but are unable to physically go on a mission trip. These people may be looking for a mission to support and you could be giving them this opportunity.

As Saint Paul says, "If the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have" (2 Corinthians 8:12).
